Traveling with a group of artists is different than taking a typical tour. We move at a more leisurely pace so we can see, photograph, paint and absorb everything around us. We seek out the culture, the art, the history and the people that make a place special. The paintings we create are little gems because we take the time to really study our subject and get to know it, as opposed to taking a picture and moving on. We bring our small paintings, our photographs and our memories home with us and create larger paintings in our studios. I hope you will join me on a painting trip in the future.

"French Escapade Watercolor Painting Trip" Belgium September 5 - 12, 2009, .....Limited to 7 paintersIn May, 2008 my students and I toured and painted in rural France with the French Escapade tour company. We had such a fabulous time we wanted to do it again. When some of the students saw the painting trip itinerary to Belgium on the French Escapade website, they decided that was to be our next trip. Not everyone on the last trip could come this time so we do have space available at this time. French Escapade Painting Trips are unique in that they make you feel like a guest in their home instead of a tourist. Yes we have beautiful scenes to paint, but we also learn so much about the culture, history and cuisine of the people. Jackie is from Belgium and her partner Valery is French and a fabulous chef. To learn more please visit the French Escapade website www.FrenchEscapade.com. The itinerary of the Belgium trip on the French Escapade website was designed for Instructor Sonja Hamilton. My students and I have requested a few changes. We want to stay in the same guesthouse the entire trip instead of moving, and we want to spend more than just two days exploring and painting in the beautiful medieval city of Bruges pictured above. Jackie will design the trip to meet our wishes. US $3,090. per person double occupancy. Single rooms are available for the first three that request them for an additional US $450. Includes: * Pick up and drop off at Brussels
airport Excludes: Read the entire itinerary at http://www.frenchescapade.com or email me for a brochure. |

"Creating
Watercolor Memories of Santorini", Santorini Greece Santorini is one of the cycladic islands, created by the eruption of the volcano 1500 BC (thought by some to have brought about the end of the Minoan civilization and speculated by some as the famous island of Atlantis). Due to this, the island offers a versatile landscape with on the one hand steep darkish rock formations and on the other hand beaches and small white villages. Besides that, there are several interesting monuments and an active volcano. Thira offers, ruins of the old Roman baths, theatres and markets. Santorini is a group of islands in a circle about 10 KM across – the rim of a large volcano that is still producing small islands in the center. Steep slopes lead to the central area and gentle slopes lead to the sea that circles the island. It’s really a group of islands even though it is usually discussed as if it were one. Settlements are scattered around the island as a series of small villages. The famous white buildings are huddled close to one another on and over the cliff of the central caldera. Hiking paths and trails lead all over the island, but a charming time can be had walking the paths that interconnect the settlements and exploring the shops. I doubt I will spend much time exploring the shops; I can’t wait to paint these views! I spent the summer of 1969 on the Greek Island of Hydra, supporting myself by creating ink drawings of the village, harbor and visiting yachts and selling them to the yacht owners visiting the island. I am really looking forward to returning to paint in Greece. US $2,849. per person single occupancy or US $2,749, per person double occupancy includes: Seven nights hotel accommodations in historic Fira, workshop, continental breakfast, lunch and dinner, daily wine tasting opportunities, day cruise into the cladera, visit to hot springs, volcano and nearby island of Thirassia, and farewell wine tasting dinner. Air travel and transfer to/from hotel upon arrival and departure are not included and is the responsibility of each participant. Santorini is served by airlines from Athens. Non-painters are welcome on this trip.
